These adorable handmade clay ceramic stud earrings are made at Claycult Cambodia's studio workshop in Siem Reap, home to Angkor Wat and the great Angkor temples.
The clay is hand dug, shaped and fired twice in traditional kilns to temperatures of between 1060C and 1100C. They are finished with a gorgeous translucent coloured glaze in your choice of blue, aqua or pink.
These ceramic studs are approximately 1cm wide. Please note that as they are hand crafted there may be slight differences in the studs you receive to the ones you see pictured. Any inconsistencies are to be expected and are part of the natural charm of handmade jewellery.
Loom Designs work with Claycult Cambodia to provide sustainable, long term employment in a safe work environment and to offer education and training to their, at present, 16 Cambodian staff.
Claycult Cambodia employ mostly women and adapt the work place to their lives as much as possible, out sourcing to those who are unable to come to the workshop because of family commitments or flexi hours to accommodate those caring for families. They encourage education, sending those who have a desire to school. Their staff are paid a fair wage, many of them being the sole supporter of an extended family, a fresh home cooked lunch is also provided.
Nothing is mass-produced. All items are hand crafted; from the digging and production of the clay, to the rolling, shaping and painting of the beads to the creation of the beautiful jewellery.
Inspired by the world around us, Claycult Cambodia bring the culture of the Khmer people and the colours of their land into their designs.
